SILAO, GUANAJUATO, MEXICO — Purina® recently announced the grand opening of the Purina® Experience Center — a new science and innovation space located within its plant in Silao. According to the company, this move reinforces its leadership in science-based pet nutrition and its long-term commitment to Mexico and Latin America.
The new Experience Center is part of Purina’s industrial ecosystem in Silao and is part of a projected investment of more than $700 million from its opening in 2015 to 2027, which will make the facility the company’s largest in Latin America and a strategic pillar for national supply and export to Central America.
The center was designed as an immersive and educational space that aims to strengthen the understanding of the importance of nutrition as the foundation of pets’ health and wellbeing at all stages of their lives, according to Purina. Through interactive experiences, visitors can learn how science guides the development of products from Nestlé Purina PetCare brands such as Pro Plan®, Dog Chow®, Cat Chow®, Beneful® and Felix®.
“This center is a tangible expression of our commitment to science, nutrition and pet wellbeing,” said Juan Gabriel Reyes, president of Nestlé Purina PetCare Latin America and the Caribbean. “We want our visitors to understand how we develop solutions that contribute to a longer, healthier and happier life for dogs and cats.”
The space is aimed at collaborators, clients, strategic partners, opinion leaders, content creators and veterinary medicine students, who will be able to learn firsthand about Purina’s scientific backing and innovation processes.
“The Purina Experience Center strengthens our relationship with customers and strategic partners by demonstrating, with facts and scientific evidence, the added value of our brands,” said Lourdes Muñoz, business executive officer of Nestlé Purina PetCare Mexico. “It is a key tool for boosting preference for Purina and generating new business opportunities in the region.”
The center is expected to receive around 3,500 visitors annually, in groups of 25 people, to ensure a personalized and high-value experience, according to Purina. The center will begin operations gradually, and public access protocols will be announced soon.
